This page covers healer-focused strategies for the Halls of Stone dungeon in Wrath of the Lich King. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences as well as Dungeon Journal and combat log information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
Bosses
Below are guides for the bosses in Halls of Stone, including their abilities, healer notes, and addon settings.
Maiden of Grief
- Interrupt or dispel Pillar of Woe (magic) to prevent the moderate daamge dealt and light damage over time effect.
- Avoid the locations of Storm of Grief, except where noted below.
- When Shock of Sorrow is cast, stand in a Storm of Grief just before the cast finishes to break the incapacitating effect.
- On Heroic, deals light damage to and drains mana from random players with Parting Sorrow.
Healing Notes
- Shock of Sorrow can cause the tank to temporarily lose threat if they don't break the incapacitating effect.
- Keep players near full health to ensure they can survive stepping into Storm of Grief.
Debuffs to Track
- Minor: Pillar of Woe (magic)
Addons
Krystallus
- Knocks back all players with Stomp.
- Immediately after this, stay as far away from other players as possible to lessen the damage taken from Shatter.
- Deals moderate damage to random players with Boulder Toss.
- On Heroic, avoid the impact locations of Ground Spike.
Healing Notes
- Use cooldowns on Shatter - use it before if players are low on health, or after to heal the damage.
Debuffs to Track
- There are no particular debuffs to track.
Addons
Tribunal of Ages
During this encounter, players must defend Brann Bronzebeard from waves of enemies while he tries the access The Tribunal.
- The Tribunal
- A set of stationary statues that assault players and are unattackable.
- Dispel Dark Matter (magic) to remove the increased damage taken effect.
- Avoid the location of Searing Gaze.
- Deals light damage to random players with Glare of the Tribunal.
- Dark Rune Protector
- Dark Rune Warrior
- The tank will be dealing with extra damage from Heroic Strike.
- Don't stand in front to avoid Cleave.
- Dark Rune Stormcaller
- Interrupt Lightning Bolt to prevent the light damage dealt to the tank.
- Dispel Shadow Word: Pain (magic) to remove the light damage over time effect.
- Iron Golem Custodian
- The tank will be dealing with stacks of Crush Armor, reducing Armor.
- Stay more than 10-yards away to avoid Ground Smash.
- Lightning Construct
- Stay more than 10-yards away to avoid Electrical Overload.
- Deals moderate damage to up to three random players with Chain Lightning.
Healing Notes
- Keep players near full health to ensure they survive the numerous sources of random damage.
Debuffs to Track
- Major: Dark Matter (magic), Crush Armor, Ground Smash
- Minor: Shadow Word: Pain (magic)
Addons
Sjonnir The Ironshaper
- Dispel Static Charge (magic) to prevent the damage dealt to players within 10-yards.
- This also damages enemies, so it may be beneficial to not dispel it.
- Purge Lightning Shield to prevent the light damage dealt to attacking players.
- During Lightning Ring, stay more than 10-yards away to avoid Lightning Ring (dispel, magic).
- Deals light damage to up to three random players with Chain Lightning.
- Several lesser enemies spawn throughout the encounter.
- Forged Iron Dwarf
- Interrupt Lightning Tether to prevent the light damage over time dealt to a random player.
- Forged Iron Trogg
- Interrupt Lightning Shock to prevent the light damage dealt to a random player.
- Malformed Ooze
- Move towards the center of the platform from the two connectd forges.
- Attempt to Ooze Combine with other Oozes within 5-yards, forming an Iron Sludge.
- Iron Sludge
- Deals light damage and light damage over time to all players with Toxic Volley (dispel, poison).
- Iron Sludge
- Forged Iron Dwarf
- At 20% health, goes into a Frenzy, greatly increasing attack speed and physical damage dealt.
- Additionally, Earthen Dwarves begin spawning from the two forges. These deal light melee damage.
Healing Notes
- Stand near the tank whenever possible as you're likely to gain threat on all lesser enemies that spawn.
- Use cooldowns as-needed if lesser enemies get out of control, or if an Iron Sludge is allowed to spawn.

- Major: Lightning Ring (dispel, magic)
- Minor: Static Charge (dispel, magic), Toxic Volley (dispel, poison)
- Buffs to Purge: Lightning Shield

Trash Mobs
Below are notes for the trash mobs in Halls of Stone. Halls of Stone has a relatively open layout, with players choosing which order to fight the first three bosses. The trash below is grouped into each boss' area.
Central Area
- Dark Rune Theurgist
- Interrupt or don't stand in front to avoid Forked Lightning.
- When possible, interrupt Lightning Bolt to prevent the light damage dealt to the tank.
- Purge Iron Might to remove the increased damage dealt effect.
- Dark Rune Warrior
- The tank will be dealing with extra damage from Heroic Strike.
- Don't stand in front to avoid Cleave.
- Unrelenting Construct
- The tank will be dealing with extra damage and the Stun effect from Unrelenting Strike
- Interrupt or stay more than 10-yards away to avoid Short Circuit.
- Deals light damage to and Stuns random players with Charge.
- Dark Rune Elementalist
- Interrupt Summon Air Elemental to prevent the Lesser Air Elemental from spawning.
- Lesser Air Elemental
- Interrupt Lightning Bolt to prevent the light damage dealt to a random player.
- Lesser Air Elemental
- When possible, interrupt Lightning Bolt to prevent the light damage dealt to the tank.
- Purge Arcane Haste to remove the increased cast speed effect.
- Purge Lightning Shield to prevent the light damage dealt to attacking players.
- Interrupt Summon Air Elemental to prevent the Lesser Air Elemental from spawning.
- Dark Rune Giant
Maiden of Grief Area
- This area includes Dark Rune Giants, detailed above.
- Lightning Construct
- Interrupt or stay more than 10-yards away to avoid Electrical Overload.
- Deals moderate damage to up to three random players with Chain Lightning.
Krystallus Area
- Crystalline Shardling
- The tank will be dealing with light melee damage.
- Dark Rune Shaper
- Interrupt Chiseling Ray to prevent the moderata damage and then light damage over time dealt to a random player.
- Dark Rune Worker
- The tank will be dealing with several abilities.
- Pierce Armor, reducing Armor.
- Light damage over time from Deep Wound.
- Gains greatly increased attack speed and physical damage dealt while Disgruntled Anger is active.
- The tank will be dealing with several abilities.
- Dark Rune Scholar
- Purge Runic Intellect to remove the increased Intellect and Spell Hit effect.
- Deals moderate damage to an interrupts random players with Static Arrest.
- Dark Rune Controller
- Interrupt Domination to prevent the mind-control effect on a random player.
- When possible, interrupt Summon Shardling to prevent the Eroded Shardling from being summoned.
- Eroded Shardling
- The tank will be dealing with light melee damage.
- Eroded Shardling
- Can increase the damage dealt by Crystalline Shardlings with Crystalline Growth.
Tribunal of Ages Area
- This area includes Unrelenting Constructs, Dark Rune Giants, and Lightning Constructs, detailed above.
- Raging Construct
- Don't stand in front to avoid Arcing Smash.
- Gains increased attack speed and physical damage dealt with Potent Jolt.
Tribunal of Ages thru Sjonnir The Ironshaper
- Depending on how much was cleared early in the dungeon, there will likely be no trash on the way back to Sjonnir.
Trash Debuffs to Track
