Azgalor, Healer Guide
Updated 1 year, 5 months ago for patch 2.5.3 by Preston. View the change log.
This page covers a healer-focused strategy for Azgalor in The Battle for Mount Hyjal in The Burning Crusade. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the encounter, combat log information, and Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
General Mechanics and Abilities
- Don't stand in front to avoid Cleave.
- When affected by Doom, move away from other players before the effect expires and the Lesser Doomguard spawns. This kills the affected player.
- Avoid the location of Rain of Fire.
- Players that stay in the effect for 2-seconds or longer take moderate damage over time from Unquenchable Flames.
- Silences all players with Howl of Azgalor.
Resistance Levels
- Healers/Casters: ~200+ Shadow Resistance
- All other players generally won't make use of any additional Resistances on this encounter.
- If players have difficulty getting out of Rain of Fire quickly, some Fire Resistance can help mitigate Unquenchable Flames.
Healing Notes
Quick Notes
The notes below mostly pertain to progression difficulty, meaning if you out-gear the encounter or use extra healers they may not apply.
- Use Cooldowns
- as-needed to deal with Unquenchable Flames or to recover from Howl of Azgalor
- Other things to watch for
- Be sure there are healers in range of both the tank(s) on Azgalor as well as the tank(s) on Lesser Doomguards.
- Healers affected by Doom should be resurrected whenever possible.
Debuffs to Track
Major
- Unquenchable Flames causes players to need moderate healing over time.
- (Optional) War Stomp stuns players, and it can be nice to know when a tank is stunned but it may not be entirely necessary.
Useful Addons
DBM Settings
Below are the DBM settings I'll be using for Azgalor in The Battle for Mount Hyjal. You can set them up however you'd like, but these ones should work well as a starting point.
