Huntsman Altimor, Healer Guide

Updated 9 months, 1 week ago for patch 9.2.7 by Preston. View the change log.

Huntsman Altimor Dungeon Journal ModelThis page covers a healer-focused strategy for Huntsman Altimor in Castle Nathria in Shadowlands. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the encounter, combat log information, and Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

Huntsman Altimor ModelGeneral Mechanics and Abilities

Huntsman Altimor ModelNormal and Heroic

During this encounter players will be fighting against Altimor and his Hunting Gargon.

  • Huntsman Altimor
    • Altimor and his Hunting Gargon share damage taken due to Huntsman's Bond.
      • When all Hunting Gargon are killed, Altimore gains Broken Bond, greatly increasing damage taken.
    • Avoid the line between Altimor and the players targeted by Huntsman's Mark.
      • Players hit take moderate damage and then light damage over time from Sinseeker.
    • Spreadshot deals light damage to large swaths of players throughout the encounter.
  • Hunting Gargon
    • Margore
      • The tanks will be dealing with stacks of Jagged Claws.
      • Move within 6-yards of the player targeted by Vicious Lunge to split the damage taken.
        • On Heroic, all players hit take light damage over time from Vicious Wound.
    • Bargast
      • The tanks and healers will be dealing with Rip Soul.
        • This spawns a Ripped Soul that must be healed to full health before it reaches Altimor.
          • The Ripped Soul spawns at the health level of the tank when they're hit. For example, if the tank is at 50% health, the Ripped Soul will be at 50% health.
          • If the Ripped Soul reaches Altimor, he gains Devour Soul, greatly increasing damage dealt.
          • On Heroic, the Ripped Soul deals light damage to all players with Unstable Soul.
      • Summons Shades of Bargast using Shades of Bargast.
        • Shade of Bargast
          • Susceptible to crowd control effects.
          • Deal moderate damage and then light damage over time to all players with Deathly Roar.
          • While under crowd control effects, gain stacks of Destabalize, increasing damage taken.
          • At 100% Energy, become immune to crowd control effects with Unyielding.
    • Hecutis
      • The tanks will be dealing with stacks of Crushing Stone on Hecutis, increasing his damage dealt and decreasing his movement speed.
        • While moving, Hecutis will lose stacks and deal light damage to all players for each stack lost.
      • When affected by Petrifying Howl, move at least 10-yards away from other players to drop the resulting Stone Shards.

Huntsman Altimor ModelMythic Differences

  • Sinseeker gains additional permanent effects as Hunting Gargons join the encounter.
    • With Margore active, stand in the path to split the damage dealt from Vicious Bolt.
    • With Bargast active, Pierce Soul causes each player hit to summon a Pierced Soul that must be healed to full health before it reaches Altimor and grants him Devour Soul.
    • With Hecutis active, stay at least 5-yards away from other players when splitting damage to avoid extra damage from Shatter Shot.

Quick Notes, All Difficulties

The notes below mostly pertain to progression difficulty, meaning if you out-gear the difficulty you're on or use extra healers they may not apply.

Major

Minor

  • Several abilities cause players to need additional healing over time.
  • (Optional) Deathly Roar causes players to need additional healing, however, all players will be affected at once so it may clutter raid frames.
