Sanguine Depths, Healer Guide
Updated 2 years ago for patch 9.2.7 by Preston. View the change log.
This page covers healer-focused strategies for the Sanguine Depths dungeon in Shadowlands. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences as well as Dungeon Journal and combat log information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
Bosses
Below are guides for the bosses in Sanguine Depths, including their abilities, healer notes, and addon settings.
Kryxis the Voracious
- Various abilities, noted below, grant Kryxis stacks of Essence Surge, increasing damage dealt.
- The tank will be dealing with Vicious Headbutt.
- Interrupt Hungering Drain to prevent the damage dealt to all players and to prevent Essence Surge stacks.
- Stand between Kryxis and the player targeted by Juggernaut Rush to split the damage dealt.
- At 100% Energy, Severing Smash deals light damage to all players and knocks them back, leaving behind Living Essences.
- Run over Living Essences to prevent them being absorbed by Kryxis.
- Running over an Essence deals light damage to the player. On Mythic, the light damage is dealt to all players.
- Any Essence Kryxis absorbs grants a stack of Essence Surge.
- Run over Living Essences to prevent them being absorbed by Kryxis.
Healing Notes
- Keep the tank near full health and use external defense cooldowns as-needed on Vicious Headbutt.

- On Mythic, 15 Fragment of Radiance spawn instead. Only one player can collect each fragment and each fragment collected mitigates 20% of the damage from Rite of Supremacy.
- Targets random players with Agonize, dealing light damage over time.
- Deals light damage over time to all players during Endless Torment.
- Avoid the impact locations of Anguished Cries (dispel, magic).

- Players chase Kaal down the final hallway, fighting her alongside trash mobs, before finally fighting her alone on her balcony.
- When affected by Wicked Rush, stay at least 5-yards away from other players.
- All players hit take light damage over time from Wicked Gash.
- When Piercing Blur is cast, avoid the large red lines between the afterimages on the edges of the balcony.
- At 100% Energy, before Gloom Squall is cast, the player with Z'rali's Essence must use the Shining Radiance Extra Action Button to create a barrier all players should stand in.
- Standing inside the barrier reduces damage taken from Gloom Squall while mitigating the knock back effect.
- Standing inside the barrier also removes all stacks of Wicked Gash.
