Aggramar, Healer Guide

Updated 5 years, 1 month ago for patch 7.3.5 by Preston. View the change log.

Aggramar Dungeon Journal ModelThis page covers a healer-focused strategy for Aggramar in Antorus, the Burning Throne. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the fight as well as Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

 General Mechanics and Abilities

Normal and Heroic

This is a multi-Stage encounter during which you'll be fighting against Aggramar and his fiery minions.

Stage One - wrath of aggramar

This Stage begins at the start of the fight and ends when Aggramar reaches 80% health.

Intermission One - fires of taeshalach

This Intermission begins when Aggramar reaches 80% health and ends when the two Flame of Taeshalach are killed.

  • Aggramar is immune to damage, touching him inflicts light damage from Corrupt Aegis.
  • Flame of Taeshalach
  • Ember of Taeshalach
    • These slowly move towards Aggramar, upon reaching him they trigger a Blazing Eruption.
    • Wrought in Flame generates energy over time.
    • On Heroic, avoid the Molten Remnants left behind when Embers die.
      • These pools will reanimate into an Ember again, and continue traveling towards Aggramar.
  • On Heroic, avoid the impact locations of Meteor Swarm.

Stage Two - champion of sargeras

This Stage begins when the two Flame of Taeshalach from the Intermission are killed and ends when Aggramar reaches 40% health.

Intermission Two - taeshalach's rage

This Intermission begins when Aggramar reaches 40% health and ends when the two Flame of Taeshalach are killed.

Stage Three - the avenger

This Stage begins when the two Flame of Taeshalach from the Intermission are killed and ends when Aggramar is killed.

Healing Notes

Quick Notes, All Difficulties

The notes below mostly pertain to progression difficulty, meaning if you out-gear the difficulty you're on or use extra healers they may not apply.

  • Use Major Cooldowns on
    • Intermissions, especially during the beginning when both Flame of Taeshalach are alive.
  • Use Minor Cooldowns on
    • Flame Rend, especially to get players close to full health before the cast finishes.
    • Blazing Eruption, when an Ember of Taeshalach reaches the boss or 100 energy.
    • Intermissions, if major cooldowns aren't available or aren't sufficient.
  • Pre-heal Before (mainly for heal over time classes)
  • Leytorrent Potion use
    • Shortly after the Intermissions, immediately after a Flare
  • Other things to watch for
    • Nothing in particular, besides general raid awareness!

Debuffs to Track

  • Several abilities cause players to need additional healing
  • On Mythic, if you're able to dispel magic effects on enemies, be prepared to dispel Catalyzed from Ember of Taeshalach.
