Eranog, Healer Guide
Updated 2 weeks, 5 days ago for patch 10.0 by Preston. View the change log.
This page covers a healer-focused strategy for Eranog in Vault of the Incarnates in Dragonflight. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the encounter, combat log information, and Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
General Mechanics and Abilities
Normal and Heroic
During this encounter, players will be alternating between the two stages.
Stage One - Army of Talon
This stages lasts about 90-seconds, ending when Eranog reaches 100% Energy.
- The tanks will be dealing with stacking light to moderate damage over time from Burning Wound. Stacks will eventually require a tank swap.
- Don't stand in front to avoid Molten Cleave.
- When affected by Flamerift:
- Move more than 4-yards away from other players, or to a designated area, to drop the resulting Lava Flow pool.
- Each Rift spawns a Flamescale Tarasek.
- Flamescale Tarasek
- Susceptible to most knock backs, snares, and other forms of crowd control.
- Fixate on random players with Kill Order, dealing moderate melee damage if they reach them.
- Flamescale Tarasek
- Avoid the impact locations of Molten Spikes.
- Every 22-seconds, during Incinerating Roar:
- Stay more than 4-yards away from Molten Spikes to avoid the moderate damage from Molten Fissure.
- Deals moderate damage and then light damage over time to all players.
Stage Two - Army of Flame
This stage lasts about 30-seconds, ending when the Armies of Flame reach Eranog in the center of the room.
- Eranog leaps to the center of the room and begins channeling Army of Flame.
- Spawns 16 Primal Flames in a large ring, starting at the walls of the room.
- Primal Flame
- Linked with other Primal Flames, creating an Incinerate wall, which deals fatal damage to any player that touches it.
- At least one must be killed to create a safe opening for players to pass through.
- Primal Flame
- Spawns 16 Primal Flames in a large ring, starting at the walls of the room.
Mythic Differences
Stage One - Army of Talon
- During Incinerating Roar:
- The current tank will be affected by Greater Flamerift and should stay more than 6-yards away from other players, or move to a designated area, to drop the resulting Lava Flow pool.
- The resulting Greater Flamerift spawns a Flamescale Captain.
- Flamescale Captain
- Interrupt Pyroblast to prevent the fatal damage dealt to a random player.
- Dispel Leaping Flames (magic) to remove the moderate damage over time effect.
- Flamescale Captain
- The resulting Greater Flamerift spawns a Flamescale Captain.
- The current tank will be affected by Greater Flamerift and should stay more than 6-yards away from other players, or move to a designated area, to drop the resulting Lava Flow pool.
Stage Two - Army of Flame
- An additional 16 Primal Flames now spawn in a ring near Eranog in the center of the room and move outwards. This means at least on Primal Flame from each ring will need to be killed for players to safely pass through.
Healing Notes
Quick Notes, All Difficulties
The notes below mostly pertain to progression difficulty, meaning if you out-gear the difficulty you're on or use extra healers they may not apply.
- Use Major Cooldowns
- during stage two [occurs evey 2-minutes]
- Use Minor Cooldowns on
- Incinerating Roar [occures every 22-seconds in stage one]
- Pre-heal Before (mainly for heal over time classes)
- stage two
- or, keep heal over time effects active due to the frequency of Incinerating Roar
- Potion of Frozen Focus use
- near the end of stage two
- Other things to watch for
- Healing required in stage one increases with each Incinerating Roar. Conserving mana early on could be helpful.
Debuffs to Track
Major
- (Mythic) Leaping Flames (dispel, magic) should be dispelled immediately.
- Several abilites can cause players to need additional moderate healing.
