Updated 3 weeks, 4 days ago for patch 10.1 by Preston. View the change log.

The Forgotten Experiments Dungeon Journal ModelsThis page covers a healer-focused strategy for The Forgotten Experiments in Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible in Dragonflight. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or contact me.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the encounter, combat log information, and Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

The Forgotten Experiments ModelGeneral Mechanics and Abilities

The Forgotten Experiments ModelNormal and Heroic

Durring this encounter, players fight the bosses one at a time in the order they're listed below. When one boss is killed, the next becomes active.

  • Neldris
    • The tanks will be dealing with extra light damage from and stacks of Infused Strikes, which deals stacking light to moderate damage over time.
      • Stacks are cleared when the two affected tanks touch each other. This deals light damage to all players with Infused Explosion.
    • Don't stand in front when she turns to cast Massive Slam. Players hit take heavy damage.
    • About every 30-seconds, during Bellowing Roar, move as far away from Neldris as possible to reduce the damage taken from Bellowing Roar.
    • Targets random players with Rending Charge before charging from one player to the next, dealing moderate damage and applying a stack of Rending Charge to all players hit, dealing stacking light damage over time.
  • Thadrion
    • The tanks will be dealing with extra light damage from and stacks of Infused Strikes, which deals stacking light to moderate damage over time.
      • If two players affected by Infused Strikes touch each other, all players take light damage and gain a stack of Infused Explosion, which deals stacking light damage over time.
    • When affected by Unstable Essence (dispel, magic), stay more than 12-yards away from other players to avoid chaining the damage dealt when the effect is dispelled. When dispelled, the effect jumps to a new player at one stack.
      • On Heroic, this effect persists even after Thadrion is killed.
      • On Heroic, when dispelled, this leaves behind an Erratic Remnant.
        • Erratic Remnant
    • Avoid the impact locations of Volatile Spew. Players hit take moderate damage.
    • Every 45-seconds, deals moderate damage over time to all players with Violent Eruption.
      • On Heroic, each living Erratic Remnant deals additional light damage over time to all players.
  • Rionthus
    • The tanks will be dealing with extra light damage from and stacks of Infused Strikes, which deals stacking light to moderate damage over time.
      • If two players affected by Infused Strikes touch each other, all players take light damage and gain a stack of Infused Explosion, which deals stacking light damage over time.
    • Every 45-seconds, during Deep Breath, avoid the path of Rionthus as he flies in a straight line across the room. Players hit take likely fatal damage from Deep Breath.
    • Every 45-seconds, in between Deep Breaths, during Temporal Anomaly:
      • An anomaly attempts to reach Rionthus. If successful, he gains a large damage absorption shield from Temporal Anomaly.
      • Players can touch the anomaly, taking light damage while causing the anomaly to be knocked back.
    • When targeted by Disintegrate, stay more than 5-yards away from other players to avoid chaining the light damage dealt from Disintegrate.

The Forgotten Experiments ModelMythic Differences

  • Neldris
  • Rionthus
    • During Temporal Anomaly:
      • Touching the anomaly applies a stack of Temporal Fracture to the player, greatly increasing damage taken from touching the anomaly again while then effect persists.
