Mythic+ Affixes, Dragonflight

Updated 3 weeks, 2 days ago for patch 10.1 by Preston. View the change log.

This page covers strategies and information regarding Mythic+ affixes in Dragonflight. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or contact me.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences and combat log information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

Mythic+ Affixes ModelSeasonal Mythic+ Affixes

Seasonal Affixes are special affixes that don't start appearing on mythic+ keys until level 20 or higher, and only change when a new season begins.

Dragonflight, Season 2

Season 2 does not have a seasonal affix.

Thundering, Season 1 - +

This affix was only active during Season 1 of Dragonflight.

The Thundering affix grants each player either Mark of Lightning or Mark of Wind, with the tank always getting Mark of Wind, every 60-seconds while in combat. These buffs increase damage and healing done and prevent movement reduction and root effects.

Players must touch a player with the opposite mark before the effect expires. If more than one player is still affected by Mark of Lightning and Mark of Wind when the effect expires, all affected players are Stunned and take heavy damage over time from Primal Overload. After other players have matched up, the last player with Mark of Lightning or Mark of Wind keeps the effect for its full duration and will not be affected by Primal Overload. The same is true if multiple players are left with the same Mark, with no other player within 100-yards to match with.

Mythic+ Affixes ModelRotational Mythic+ Affixes

Rotational affixes change every week but the overall pool they're chosen from remains the same throughout a season. The affixes are split up into categories based on which mythic+ key level they appear on.

Level 2+ Affixes

The affixes below appear on level 2 keys and higher, and alternate each week.

Fortified

The Fortified affix causes non-boss enemies to have more health and deal more damage. This means you'll be more likely to need cooldowns and defensive abilities when fighting trash mobs instead of when fighting bosses.

Tyrannical

The Tyrannical affix causes bosses to have more health and deal more damage. This means you'll be more likely to need cooldowns and defensive abilities when fighting bosses instead of when fighting trash mobs.

Level 7+ Affixes

The affixes below appear on level 7 keys and higher and change each week.

Afflicted

The Afflicted affix makes it so every 30-seconds players are in combat 0-2 Afflicted Souls spawn nearby.

  • Afflicted Soul
    • Immune to interrupts and crowd control effects.
    • Attempts to cast Afflicted Cry, greatly reducing the Haste of all players.
      • To prevent the cast, dispel one of the following effects from the Afflicted Soul, or heal it to full health.
      • Players can also break line of sight to avoid the cast, or move more than 60-yards away.

Dispelling these will be the most effective option when available, but be aware that most dispel abilities or on at least an 8-seconds cooldown. So, it may be necessary to heal one to full health in some cases.

Entangling

The Entangling affix spawns a plant at player's locations every 30-seconds while in combat, affecting them with Entangled. Affected players must run 10-yards away from the plant, out of the circle around it, or use an ability that removes Root effects, to break the effect. Failing to break the effect before it expires Stuns the player with Entangled.

Incorporeal

The Incorporeal affix makes it so every 45-seconds players are in combat 0-2 Incorporeal Beings spawn nearby.

  • Incorporeal Being
    • Susceptible to all forms of crowd control, regardless of enemy type restrictions.
    • Persists for 20-seconds.
    • Continually attempts to cast Destabalize, greatly reducing damage and healing done.

Crowd controlling Incorporeal Beings until they dissipate will be the best option. They can be interrupted, but will start casting again immediately after.

Storming

The Storming affix causes enemies to periodically spawn tornados within 5-yards that rotate around near where they spawned, dealing light damage to and knocking back any players hit. This can make fighting in smaller spaces and avoiding some enemy abilities more difficult.

Volcanic

The Volcanic affix causes enemies to periodically space Volcanic Plumes within 5-yards of random players (preferring ranged players), dealing light damage to and knocking up any players hit when they detonate. This can often require frequent movement, making casting spells more difficult.

Level 14+ Affixes

The affixes below appear on level 14 keys and higher and change each week.

Bolstering

The Bolstering affix causes non-boss enemies to apply a stack of Bolster to enemies within 30-yards upon death, increasing current and maximum health. This means it's more important to either kill all trash mobs at the same time or make sure you prioritize the most problematic trash mobs first. You'll also never want to kill trash mobs while fighting a boss.

Bursting

The Bursting affix causes enemies to apply a stack of Burst (dispel, magic) to all players upon death, dealing stacking damage over time. The damage scales with the number of stacks, as well as key level. In general, it's best to keep stacks under five or six if substantial mitigation isn't available.

Raging

The Raging affix causes non-boss enemies to Enrage upon reaching 30% health, making them immune to all Stun, Snare, and crowd control effects, however, spell casts can still be interrupted with interrupt effects. Soothing Enrage from enemies with dangerous abilities will be important to ensure they can be Stunned or Snared as-needed.

Sanguine

The Sanguine affix causes non-boss enemies to leave a pool of Sanguine Ichor behind upon death, healing enemies and damaging players that stand in it. This means killing trash mobs at the same time or being ready with knock backs and interrupts will be important. This can also make fighting in smaller areas more difficult.

Spiteful

The Spiteful affix causes non-boss enemies to spawn a Spiteful Shade upon death.

  • Spiteful Shade
    • Susceptible to Stuns, Snares, and most forms of crowd control.
    • Fixates on a random player, dealing heavy melee damage.
    • Gradually loses health over time due to All-Consuming Spite, dying after about 13-seconds if not damaged.

Snaring or otherwise crowd controlling the Spireful Shades is usually the best option, letting them either die on their own or to incidental cleave and area of effect damage.
