Twin Emperors, Healer Guide

Updated 1 year, 1 month ago for patch 1.13.6 and Season of Mastery by Preston. View the change log.

Vek'nilash Dungeon Journal ModelThis page covers a healer-focused strategy for the Twin Emperors in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the encounter, logs information, and Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

General Mechanics and Abilities

  • Shared Abilities
    • The Emperors share a health pool.
    • The Emperors must be kept at least 60-yards apart to prevent them from healing each other with Heal Brother.
    • Switch places and wipe reset threat about every 35-seconds with Twin Teleport.
    • The Emperors will (8269) after 15-minutes have passed.
  • Emperor Vek'nilash
    • Only susceptible to physical damage.
    • The tanks will be dealing with Uppercut, knocking them back.
    • The tanks will also be dealing with Unbalancing Strike, reducing Defense.
  • Emperor Vek'lor
    • Only susceptible to magic damage.
    • The tanks will be dealing with Shadow Bolt.
      • It's common to use a Warlock with high Shadow Resistance as the tank for Vek'lor.
    • Stay at least 10-yards away to avoid Arcane Burst.
    • Avoid the locations of Blizzard.
  • Qiraji Bugs
    • Qiraji Scarabs and Qiraji Scorpions litter the room and are non-hostile by default.
      • Dispel Virulent Poison (poison) to remove the light damage over time effect.
    • Vek'nilash will Mutate Bugs, making them hostile and increasing their health and damage dealt significantly.
    • Vek'lor will Explode Bugs, dealing moderate damage to players within 15-yards.

Season of Mastery Differences

  • After killing The Prophet Skeram, players can interact with the Prophecy of Chaos at the back of the hallway leading deeper into Ahn'Quiraj.
    • The Prophecy of Chaos allows players to increase the difficulty of all bosses by causing different lesser enemies to spawn during encounters. Higher difficulty levels are unlocked with higher reputation and award additional loot.
      • Glyph of Madness (Friendly) causes Claw Tentacles to spawn.
        • Claw Tentacle
      • Glyph of Darkness (Honored) causes Eye Tentacles to spawn.
        • Eye Tentacle
          • Interrupt Mind Flay to prevent the light damage over time dealt to a random player.
      • Glyph of Chaos (Revered) causes Giant Claw Tentacles to spawn.
        • Giant Claw Tentacle
          • Avoid the impact location of Ground Rupture.
          • The tanks will be dealing with Thrash, taking a burst of moderate damage.
          • If no players are in melee range, it will submerge and reemerge under another player.
      • Glyph of the Void (Exalted) causes Eye of C'Thun to spawn.
        • Eye of C'Thun
          • Stay at least 10-yards away from other players to avoid chaining the damage from Eye Beam.

Resistance Levels

  • The tanks in charge of Vek'lor should have 300+ Shadow Resistance.
  • Other players generally won't make use of any additional Resistances on this encounter.

Healing Notes

The notes below mostly pertain to progression difficulty, meaning if you out-gear the difficulty you're on or use extra healers they may not apply.

  • Due to Heal Brother, players will likely be split in two groups, with some being out of range of healing.
  • The main damage to heal during the encounter is on the tanks, and as long as no one pulls threat after Twin Teleport, any other damage should be relatively inconsequential.
