Scholomance, Healer Guide

Updated 2 years, 10 months ago for patch 1.13 by Preston. View the change log.

This page covers healer-focused strategies for the Scholomance dungeon. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences as well as Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

Best for players level 58-60.

To enter Scholomance you need a Rogue with 280+ lock picking or the Skeleton Key from the quest chain starting with Scarlet Diversions (H) / Clear the Way (A).

 Bosses

Below are guides for the bosses in Scholomance, including their abilities, healer notes, and addon settings.

Blood Steward of Kirtonos Dungeon Journal Model Blood Steward of Kirtonos

 Healing Notes

  • This fight can be difficult if you don't have the proper dispels, but other than that it should be straightforward.
 Debuffs to Track

Kirtonos the Herald Dungeon Journal Model Kirtonos the Herald

Can be summoned by a player with Blood of Innocents, which is obtained from the last boss in Scholomance after completing the quest Kirtonos the Herald.

This is a two stage encounter during which you'll fight Kirtonos in his human and gargoyle form.

Stage One - Human

  • Will Disarm the tank, possibly leading to threat generation issues.
  • Dispel Curse of Tongues from caster DPS to remove the reduced casting speed effect.
  • Purge Dominate Mind to remove the mind-control effect.
    • If no Purge is available, damage the player to remove the effect.

Stage Two - Gargoyle

  • Reduces the tank's armor with Pierce Armor.
  • Interrupt Shadow Bolt Volley to prevent the damage dealt to all players.
  • Don't stand in front of the boss to avoid Swoop and Wing Flap.
    • The knock back from Wing Flap is large and can knock you off the balcony and out of the instance.

 Healing Notes

  • This is a long fight that only gets more difficult in stage two. Be prepared to heal the heavy damage on the tank.
 Debuffs to Track

Jandice Barov Dungeon Journal Model Jandice Barov

  • Will summon 15 illusions of herself, making it difficult to target the real Jandice.
    • These can either be ignored or killed individually, they are immune to area of effect damage.
  • Dispel Curse of Blood (curse) to remove the increased physical damage taken effect.
  • Targets random players with Banish, making them immune to damage and healing.

 Healing Notes

  • The illusions can really complicate this fight and make it last significantly longer if you decide to kill them off.
 Debuffs to Track

Rattlegore Dungeon Journal Model Rattlegore

 Healing Notes

  • Rattlegore deals significant damage to the tank.
  • Be sure the entire room is clear of trash to avoid pulling extra.

  • Purge Shadow Shield to remove the physical damage immunity effect.
    • If no Purge is available, melee DPS should quit attack for the duration to avoid excessively damaging themselves due to Defiling Aura.

 Healing Notes

  • Be prepared to heal the non-tank player being hit by Cleave, likely a melee DPS.
  • Be prepared for the tank and melee DPS to take excessive damage due to Defiling Aura.

  • Summons Skeletal Lackeys throughout the encounter.
  • Deals moderate damage to all players with Shadow Bolt Volley.
  • Purge Bone Armor to remove the damage absorption and reflect damage on being hit by melee attacks effect.
