Vectis, Healer Guide
Updated 4 years, 8 months ago for patch 8.1 by Preston. View the change log.
This page covers a healer-focused strategy for Vectis in Uldir. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the fight as well as Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
General Mechanics and Abilities
Normal and Heroic
This fight alternates between two stages during which you'll fight Vectis directly and dodge various blood mechanics. I wasn't able to figure out exactly what causes a phase switch, but I'll update the guide once it's known.
All Stages
- Omega Vector starts on several players when the encounter begins.
- It will continually jump between players throughout the fight.
- Each time this effect expires on a player they gain a stack of Lingering Infection. Increasing damage taken from most of the boss' abilities.
Stage One - Probing the Hosts
This stage begins the encounter with Vectis active and occurs each time stage two ends.
- Tanks will be dealing with stacks of Evolving Affliction.
- Periodically deals damage to all players with Contagion.
- Move away from players affected by Gestate.
- This spawns a Plague Amalgam upon expiring.
- Continually applies Immunosuppression to all players, causing them to absorb healing.
- This spawns a Plague Amalgam upon expiring.
Stage Two - Spreading Pandemic
This stage begins when Vectis liquefies, turning into a puddle of blood. After a short period stage one will begin again.
- Getting hit by any ability in this stage applies a stack of Lingering Infection.
- Avoid the Liquefy blood pool.
- Avoid the Blood Geyser lines as they travel out from the Liquefy pool.
- Plague Bomb locations must be soaked by one player.
- Failure to soak will spawn a Plague Amalgam.
Mythic Differences
All Stages
- There are new debuffs associated with Lingering Infection stacks.
- When affected by 6-stacks, gain Bursting Lesions dealing damage to all players with in 5-yards.
- When affected by 12-stacks, spawn an Engorged Parasite when taking damage from Contagion.
- Targets random players with Caustic Bile.
- At 100% energy, Parasitic Discharge deals heavy damage to the group and applies a stack of Lingering Infection.
- When affected by 25-stacks, receive fatal damage from Terminal Eruption and deal heavy damage to the group.
Healing Notes
Quick Notes, All Difficulties
The notes below mostly pertain to progression difficulty, meaning if you out-gear the difficulty you're on or use extra healers they may not apply.
- Use Major Cooldowns
- on Contagion, especially towards the end of the encounter
- Use Minor Cooldowns
- on Contagion, especially towards the beginning/middle of the encounter
- Pre-heal Before (mainly for heal over time classes)
- Potion of Replenishment use
- During Stage One, after Gestate
- Other things to watch for
- Tanks with high stacks of Evolving Affliction.
- Players with high stacks of Lingering Infection.
Debuffs to Track
Major
- Evolving Affliction causes the tanks to take increasing damage over time.
- Omega Vector causes players to need additional healing over time.
Minor
- Immunosuppression must be healed to remove the healing absorb effect.
- Plague Bomb causes players to need additional light healing over time.
DBM Settings
Below are the DBM settings I'll be using for Vectis in Uldir. You can set them up however you'd like, but these ones should work well as a starting point. Some settings may be Mythic only.
