The Prophet Skitra, Healer Guide

Updated 3 years, 3 months ago for patch 8.3 by Preston. View the change log.

The Prophet Skitra Dungeon Journal ModelThis page covers a healer-focused strategy for The Prophet Skitra in Ny'alotha, the Waking City. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the encounter, logs information, and Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

General Mechanics and Abilities

Normal and Heroic

This encounter alternates between the two stages.

Stage One - The Prophet

This stage begins the encounter and first ends when Skitra reaches 66% health. It begins again following stage two and ends again at 33% health.

  • Targets the tank and two random players with Shadow Shock, applying a stacking debuff that increases shadow damage taken.
  • When affected by Shred Psyche, move as far away from other players as possible.
    • Then, move as far away from the resulting Shredded Psyche as possible to reduce the damage taken from Psychic Outburst.
  • On Heroic, stay at least 10-yards away from the Images of Absolution as they move across the room.
    • Image of Absolution
      • Immune to damage while Intangible Illusion is active.
        • Can be crowd-controlled while this is active, allowing you to create safe pathways.
      • Deal increased damage with Surging Images.

Stage Two - Illusionary Projections

This stage begins when Skitra reaches the health thresholds noted in stage one and ends when the "real" Prophet Skitra illusion is killed.

  • All players will be affected by either Clouded Mind or Twisted Mind, splitting them into different realms.
    • Players in each realm must find the real Prophet Skitra.
      • The real Prophet Skitra will be in the same location in each realm.
      • If a false Illusion is killed, all players take critical damage from Mindquake.
  • Applies a stack of Dark Ritual to all players every 5-seconds, increasing shadow damage taken.
  • Deals moderate damage to all players with Illusionary Bold.

Mythic Differences

  • Shred Psyche effects are only visible to players that are in the same realm as the affected player.

Healing Notes

Quick Notes, All Difficulties

The notes below mostly pertain to progression difficulty, meaning if you out-gear the difficulty you're on or use extra healers they may not apply.

  • Use Major Cooldowns
    • as-needed during stage two
  • Use Minor Cooldowns on
  • Pre-heal Before (mainly for heal over time classes)
  • Potion of Replenishment use
    • after leaving stage two
  • Other things to watch for
    • Be aware of non-tank players affected by Shadow Shock as they'll be taking extra damage.

 DBM Settings

Below are the DBM settings I'll be using for The Prophet Skitra. You can set them up however you'd like, but these ones should work well as a starting point. Some settings may be Mythic only.
