Jadefire Masters, Healer Guide
Updated 4 years, 3 months ago for patch 8.1.5 by Preston. View the change log.
This page covers a healer-focused strategy for Jadefire Masters in Battle of Dazar'alor. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the encounter as well as Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
General Mechanics and Abilities
Normal and Heroic
This is a single stage encounter, during which players fight against a powerful Monk and Mage that combine their powers to release devastating attacks. Horde players fight against Mestrah and Manceroy and Alliance players fight against Ma'ra and Anathos.
Mestrah (H) / Ma'ra (A)
- The tanks will be dealing with Multi-Sided Strike.
- When a tank is launched into the air, they must face each of the images as they appear to prevent the damage.
- Normal: three strikes occur
- Heroic: four strikes occur
- Applies Tested, increasing physical damage taken. This will force a tank switch.

- A player (likely the tank) must engage Mestrah/Ma'ra in melee combat to end the spell.

Manceroy (H) / Anathos (A)

- Upon expiring, Burnout deals moderate to critical damage to the group depending on how many stacks were active.
- Each hit applies a stack of Rising Flames.
- Periodically teleports to a random area, gaining Fire Shield and casting Pyroblast.
- The Shield must be damaged down so the cast can be interrupted to prevent fatal damage to the targeted player.
- Dispel Searing Embers (magic).
- Failure to dispel before the effect expires triggers Unleashed Ember, dealing moderate damage to all players.
- On Heroic, avoid the locations of Magma Trap.
- These should be triggered in a controlled manner to keep the area clear.
- Triggering a Trap applies a debuff that increases damage taken from breaking future Traps.
- The damage from the Trap itself and the subsequent fall damage will likely be fatal most of the time if you don't have a way to mitigate one or both of those aspects.
Combined Power Attacks

Healing Notes
Quick Notes, All Difficulties
The notes below mostly pertain to progression difficulty, meaning if you out-gear the difficulty you're on or use extra healers they may not apply.
- Use Major Cooldowns
- during Flash of Hostility (60 Power)
- during The Serpent and the Phoenix (100 Power)
- Use Minor Cooldowns
- on Burnout
- during Fire From Mist (30 Power)
- if Searing Embers detonate
- Pre-heal Before (mainly for heal over time classes)
- Power phases (Fire From Mist, Flash of Hostility, The Serpent and the Phoenix)
- Burnout
- Potion of Replenishment use
- after Power phases (Fire From Mist, Flash of Hostility, The Serpent and the Phoenix)
- Other things to watch for
- Searing Embers must be dispelled quickly.
- Be aware of players that are out of line of sight due to Chi-Ji's Song clouds.
Debuffs to Track
Major
- Searing Embers should be dispelled (magic).
- (Optional) Tested causes the player to take additional physical damage.
- Tracking this may allow you to save the tank with an external cooldown if necessary.
Minor
- Stalking can cause players to need additional healing.
- (Optional) Chi-Ji's Song can cause players to need additional healing over time.
- Additionally, knowing what players are inside or outside of the cloud can help you know who you can heal.
DBM Settings
Below are the DBM settings I'll be using for Jadefire Masters. You can set them up however you'd like, but these ones should work well as a starting point. Some settings may be Mythic only.
