Artificer Xy'mox, Healer Guide
Updated 9 months, 1 week ago for patch 9.2.7 by Preston. View the change log.
This page covers a healer-focused strategy for Artificer Xy'mox in Castle Nathria in Shadowlands. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the encounter, combat log information, and Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
General Mechanics and Abilities
Normal and Heroic
- When affected by Dimensional Tear, move so you and the other affected player create a set of portals that are advantageous for moving quickly around the room when dealing with other mechanics throughout the encounter.
- Strategies will vary, but a "generic" placement strategy seems to be placing one portal near the center of the room and the other on the west or east wall of the room. This allows the most flexibility when dealing with the Sire Denathrius' relics, detailed below.
- When the tank is affected by Glyph of Destruction, move as far away as possible to reduce the damage taken.
- This afflicts the tank with Arcane Vulnerability, increasing arcane damage taken and dealing light damage over time.
- Avoid the Rift Blast lines emanating from created portals.
- On Heroic, avoid the Stasis Traps placed at random players' locations.
- The trap will need to be killed if it traps a player.
- Hyperlight Spark deals moderate damage to all players.
- To begin the encounter, and again when Xy'mox reaches 70% health and 40% health, a relic from Sire Denathrius' private collection is activated and any currently active relics are deactivated.
- To begin the encounter, Crystal of Phantasms spawns several Fleeting Spirits and deals light damage to random players with Soul Singe.
- Fleeting Spirit
- Fixate on random players.
- Upon reaching a player, Possession mind controls the player until they're brought to low health.
- Disappear after 13-seconds.
- Fleeting Spirit
- Starting at 70% health, Root of Extinction plants four Seeds of Extinction nearby and deals moderate damage over time to random players with Withering Touch.
- Seed of Extinction
- Can be picked up by players and moved.
- After 20-seconds, deals heavy damage to all players within 50-yards.
- Seed of Extinction
- Starting at 40% health, while Edge of Annihilation is active, run against the pulling effect to avoid the fatal damage within 25-yards of the relic.
- Additionally, players take light damage over time from Aura of Dread for the remainder of the encounter.
- To begin the encounter, Crystal of Phantasms spawns several Fleeting Spirits and deals light damage to random players with Soul Singe.
Mythic Differences
- When Xy'mox reaches 70% health and 40% health, a relic from Sire Denathrius' private collection is activated.
- Relics are now permanent and will not become deactivated at the noted health thresholds.
- Crystal of Phantasms.
- Fleeting Spirits
- Players affected by Possession remain mind controlled until killed.
- Fleeting Spirits
