Maiden of Vigilance, Healer Guide
Posted 2 years, 6 months ago for patch 7.3.2 by Preston.
This page covers a healer-focused strategy for the Maiden of Vigilance in the Tomb of Sargeras. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the fight as well as Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
General Mechanics and Abilities
Normal and Heroic
This is an alternating two-stage fight, switching back and forth between the two stages detailed below.
- During the entire fight, the group must manage
Infusion debuffs and related mechanics.
- Touching a player with the opposite
Infusion debuff as you, or being hit by a mechanic with the opposite
Infusion element as you, will give you an
Unstable Soul debuff.
- To mitigate the damage from
Unstable Soul, jump into the "pit" in the center of the room with ~2-seconds remaining on the debuff.
- You will fall down at first, gaining
Aegwynn's Ward, but once your debuff expires you'll be launched back out.
- On Heroic, you will fly out of the pit opposite of the direction you're facing, so try to aim close to where you should be.
- You will fall down at first, gaining
- To mitigate the damage from

Stage One - divide and conquer
-
Infusion grants players one of two debuffs which interact with other parts of the fight.
Fel Infusion or
Light Infusion.
- Remember, players that touch with opposite debuffs will both gain
Unstable Soul.
- The Maiden uses two different Hammers on the tanks, which follow familiar
Infusion rules.
Hammer of Creation
- Players with
Light Infusion must be in front of Maiden to help split the damage.
- Avoid the
Light Remanence left behind, which pulse
Light Echoes.
- Being hit by any of these mechanics with the
Fel Infusion debuff will trigger
Unstable Soul.
- Players with
Hammer of Obliteration
- Players with
Fel Infusion must be in front of Maiden to help split the damage.
- Avoid the
Fel Remanence left behind, which pulse
Fel Echoes.
- Being hit by any of these mechanics with the
Light Infusion debuff will trigger
Unstable Soul.
- Players with
Mass Instability triggers
Unstable Soul on three players.
- This is handled the same as any other time, by jumping into the "pit" in the center of the room.
Stage Two - the watcher's wrath
During this Stage, Maiden jumps to the opposite side of the room and begins a series of abilities.
- Initially, try to be as far away from Maiden as possible to shorten the stun from
Blowback.
- Maiden will be affected by a massive damage absorption shield from
Titanic Bulwark.
- This must be damaged down quickly so
Wrath of the Creators can be interrupted before the damage is too high.
- Upon reaching 30-stacks, Maiden casts
Extinguish Life, killing the entire group.
- Upon reaching 30-stacks, Maiden casts
- This must be damaged down quickly so
Essence Fragments emits Holy and Fel orbs from Maiden, which travel in a circle around the room and make running to Maiden more complicated.
- Collecting orbs that match your
Infusion will grant one of two buffs.
Creator's Grace increases damage and healing done if you have
Light Infusion.
- Similarly,
Demon's Vigor increases damage and healing done if you have
Fel Infusion.
- Touching an orb that doesn't match your
Infusion, or being near a non-matching orb that's been hit, will trigger
Unstable Soul.
- Ideally, it should work out that all
Light Infusion players are on one side of the boss, and all
Fel Infusion players are on the other.
- This mitigates the chance that someone is in the splash damage of an orb that doesn't match their element.
- Collecting orbs that match your
Mythic Differences
Stage One - divide and conquer
- When affected by
Spontaneous Fragmentation, move away from the resulting Fragment, which will be the opposite
Infusion element.
- Be ready to soak other player's Fragments that are the same element as your
Infusion.
- Touching a Fragment of the opposite element gives
Unstable Soul.
- Touching a Fragment of the opposite element while already affected by
Unstable Soul will cause it to immediately detonate.
- Touching a Fragment of the opposite element while already affected by
- Touching a Fragment that matches your element gives you a stack of
Creator's Grace or
Demon's Vigor.
- My guild handled this by having players of the same element stack with each other on either side of the boss and rotate any time a
Spontaneous Fragmentation spawned.
- Be ready to soak other player's Fragments that are the same element as your
- Tanks and Healers should coordinate so the tanks can solo-soak
Hammer of Creation.
Stage Two - the watcher's wrath
- Failing to soak any of the Holy or Fel orbs being emitted by Maiden before they reach the opposite side triggers
Fragment Burst and applies a stack of
Ravaged Soul.
- My guild handled this by:
- Having melee run to Maiden immediately after
Blowback to soak their color orbs.
- Having ranged cross sides and soak the opposite color orbs as the melee.
- Having melee run to Maiden immediately after

Healing Strategy
Quick Notes, All Difficulties
Stage One - divide and conquer
- Players soaking
Hammer of Creation and
Hammer of Obliteration will need light to moderate healing, depending on how many other players are hit.
Stage Two - the watcher's wrath
Wrath of the Creators deals steadily increasing damage to the group, and will likely require at least one group-healing cooldown, possibly more depending how long it takes to break
Titanic Bulwark.
- On Mythic, you want to try to survive until 29 stacks if possible.
- My guild used two healer cooldowns, starting the first at ~20 stacks and the second at ~25 stacks.
- On Mythic, you want to try to survive until 29 stacks if possible.
In-depth Notes, Normal and Heroic
Consider this section in "beta." My goal is to lay out the order of events without necessarily providing an entire strategy for all roles (other sites do that already). The idea being it should help organize your cooldowns or pre-healing. Feedback is greatly appreciated as Tomb of Sargeras is my first time attempting something like this.
Based on the Event List, we can assume the following:
Infusion
- Occurs immediately at the start of the fight.
- Occurs 10-seconds after an
Essence Fragments ends, then every 40-seconds after that.
Hammer of Creation
- Occurs 15-seconds from the start of the fight.
- Occurs 25-seconds after an
Essence Fragments ends, then every 35-seconds after that.
Mass Instability
- Occurs 25-seconds from the start of the fight.
- Occurs every 35-seconds after an
Essence Fragments ends.
Hammer of Obliteration
- Occurs 30-seconds from the start of the fight.
- Occurs 45-seconds after an
Essence Fragments ends, then every 35-seconds after that.
Blowback occurs every 2-minutes, starting 45-seconds into the fight.
Essence Fragments occurs along with
Blowback.
Debuffs to Track
Unstable Soul deals light damage over time.
- On Mythic, this deals moderate to heavy damage.
DBM Settings
Below are the DBM settings I'll be using for Maiden of Vigilance. You can set them up however you'd like, but these ones should work well as a starting point. Some settings may be Mythic only.
