Harjatan, Healer Guide
Posted 3 years, 8 months ago for patch 7.3.2 by Preston.
This page covers a healer-focused strategy for the Harjatan in the Tomb of Sargeras. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the fight as well as Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
General Mechanics and Abilities
Normal and Heroic
- The current tank will gain stacks of
Jagged Abrasion from
Abrasive Armor.
- Be in front of Harjatan when he reaches 100% energy to help soak
Unchecked Rage.
Commanding Roar is used at 33% and 66% health and summons murlocs to join the fight.
- Razorjaw Wavemender
- The current aggro target will gain stacks of
Drenched from
Watery Splash.
- When affected by
Aqueous Burst, move away from other players to drop the resulting
Drenching Waters, this will also deal heavy damage to anyone nearby when it expires.
- These need to be killed quickly to limit the number of
Drenching Waters.
- The current aggro target will gain stacks of
- Razorjaw Gladiator
- The current aggro target will gain stacks of
Drenched from
Dripping Blade.
- When affected by
Driven Assault, kite the Razorjaw away from other players so they're not hit by
Splashy Cleave.
- The current aggro target will gain stacks of
- Razorjaw Wavemender
Draw In pulls all
Drenching Waters to Harjatan.
- Each pool grants Harjatan a stack of
Frigid Blows.
- This causes Harjatan's melee attacks to deal light damage to the group.
- It also causes his melee attacks to release a
Drenching Slough.
- These leave behind
Drenching Waters.
- Avoid the impact locations and stand in an area where the pools won't be in the way later (normally the sides of the room).
- These leave behind
- When all stacks are consumed, Harjatan casts
Frosty Discharge, dealing moderate damage to the group and removing
Drenched from all players.
- Each pool grants Harjatan a stack of
Mythic Differences
- On Mythic difficulty, you will need to deal with Incubated Eggs.
- The Eggs have
Hardened Shell until they're hit by Harjatan's
Unchecked Rage.
- You'll have enough time to hit one egg with
Unchecked Rage and kill it before
Hatching completes.
- You'll have enough time to hit one egg with
- If an Egg is allowed to hatch, one of several tadpole adds will join the fight.
- When a tadpole dies, it triggers
Enraged.
- Colicky Tadpole
- Stay spread out to avoid extra damage from
Tantrum.
Getting Angry increases damage done each time
Tantrum is used.
- These come from the yellow Egg.
- Stay spread out to avoid extra damage from
- Drippy Tadpole
Dripping Wet creates a pool of
Drenching Waters underneath Drippy Tadpoles every 5-seconds.
- These should be killed quickly, again to help keep the number of
Drenching Waters low.
- These come from the blue Egg.
- It is recommended you kill the blue Egg to prevent these from even joining the fight, as any extra
Drenching Waters are a problem.
- Sickly Tadpole
- When affected by
Sickly Fixate, run away from the Sickly Tadpole or it will trigger
Rotten Emission.
- These come from the green Egg.
- When affected by
- When a tadpole dies, it triggers
- The Eggs have
Healing Strategy
Quick Notes, All Difficulties
- The group will need light to moderate healing when stacked for
Unchecked Rage. This shouldn't require a group-healing cooldown if enough players are stacked.
- The group will need heavy healing during
Frigid Blows, this is likely when group-healing cooldowns will be required.
- On Mythic, Colicky Tadpoles will deal moderate damage to random players with
Tantrum.
- Be aware of players with high stacks of
Drenched as they'll be taking increased damage from most other abilities during the fight.
In-depth Notes, Normal and Heroic
Consider this section in "beta." My goal is to lay out the order of events without necessarily providing an entire strategy for all roles (other sites do that already). The idea being it should help organize your cooldowns or pre-healing. Feedback is greatly appreciated as Tomb of Sargeras is my first time attempting something like this.
Based on the Event List, we can assume the following:
Unchecked Rage occurs every 30-seconds, starting 15-seconds into the fight.
- Murloc adds spawn every 30-seconds, starting 20-seconds into the fight.
Aqueous Burst occurs every 30-seconds, starting 30-seconds into the fight.
- Or ~10-seconds after Murlocs spawn.
Draw In /
Frigid Blows occurs every 60-seconds, starting 60-seconds into the fight.
Debuffs to Track
- (Optional)
Drenched can be tracked so you know who has high stacks.
DBM Settings
Below are the DBM settings I'll be using for the Harjatan. You can set them up however you'd like, but these ones should work well as a starting point. Some settings may be Mythic only.
