Goroth, Healer Guide
Posted 3 years, 11 months ago for patch 7.3.2 by Preston.
This page covers a healer-focused strategy for Goroth in the Tomb of Sargeras. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the fight as well as Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
General Mechanics and Abilities
Normal and Heroic
- Don't stand near the tanks to avoid the explosion from
Burning Armor and the resulting
Melted Armor.
- Avoid the locations where
Infernal Spikes are appearing.
- When affected by
Crashing Comet, move at least 10-yards away from other players and
Infernal Spikes or you'll destroy them.
- After the Comet lands, a damage over time effect lingers, but it's safe to move back into the group.
- When affected by
Shattering Star, position yourself so the projectile passes through as many
Infernal Spikes as possible before reaching you.
- Players not affected should avoid the path of the Star.
- When
Infernal Burning is cast, position an
Infernal Spike between you and Goroth to absorb the blast.
- On Heroic, avoid
Fel Eruption pools which will periodically affect one quadrant of the room at random.
- These pools will destroy
Infernal Spikes when they land.
- These pools will destroy
Mythic Differences
- Any time an
Infernal Spike is destroyed, it deals damage to the entire group.
- Because of this, when directing a
Shattering Star through pillars, you ideally want to hit at least three pillars, but no more than four.
- Because of this, when directing a
- The four meteors from
Rain of Brimstone must be soaked. The damage dealt is divided among the players soaking, and will likely require a personal defensive cooldown to survive.
- Failure to soak a meteor causes a Brimstone Infernal to spawn, which damages all players with
Fel Fire.
- Failure to soak a meteor causes a Brimstone Infernal to spawn, which damages all players with
Healing Strategy
Quick Notes, All Difficulties
Shattering Star will deal moderate to heavy damage to the group, depending on how many spikes it passes through. This is when you'll want group-healing cooldowns.
- On Mythic, be aware of the extra damage from
Infernal Spike being destroyed when the Star passes through them.

In-depth Notes, Normal and Heroic
Consider this section in "beta." My goal is to lay out the order of events without necessarily providing an entire strategy for all roles (other sites do that already). The idea being it should help organize your cooldowns or pre-healing. Feedback is greatly appreciated as Tomb of Sargeras is my first time attempting something like this.
Based on the Event List, we can assume the following:
Infernal Spikes occur every 20-seconds, following the start of the fight and then each
Infernal Burning after that.
Crashing Comets occur every 20-seconds, starting 10-seconds into the fight.
Shattering Star occurs every 60-seconds, starting 30-seconds into the fight.
Burning Armor occurs every 30-seconds.
- On Heroic,
Fel Eruption occurs every 30-seconds, starting 50-seconds into the fight.
Infernal Burning occurs every 60-seconds.
Debuffs to Track
Crashing Comet causes players to need additional healing over time.
DBM Settings
Below are the DBM settings I'll be using for Goroth. You can set them up however you'd like, but these ones should work well as a starting point. Some settings may be Mythic only.
