Star Augur Etraeus, Healer Guide

Updated 6 years, 4 months ago for patch 7.2 by Preston. View the change log.

Star Augur Etraeus Dungeon Journal ModelThis page covers a healer-focused strategy for Star Augur Etraeus in The Nighthold. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences with the fight as well as Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

General Mechanics and Abilities

Etraeus is a four-stage fight during which you fight on an observation deck that's moving to different worlds.

Normal and Heroic

Stage One - observation dome

This Stage starts at the beginning of the fight and ends when Etraeus reached 90% health.

  • Random players will be hit by Coronal Ejection and suffer damage over time for a short period.

Stage Two - absolute zero

  • Stay at least 6-yards away from the tanks to avoid extra damage from Iceburst.
  • Tanks are also targeted by Gravitational Pull.
    • This causes a Comet Impact on the tank and gives them the Absolute Zero debuff.
    • To get rid of this debuff, the tank must stack with at least three other players.
      • These players will then gain Chilled, attempting to soak again will trigger the Frozen Solid stun.
      • The best way to handle this is to have ranged-DPS and healers divided up into two mostly even groups on both sides of the boss.
  • When affected by Icy Ejection, move at least 8-yards away from other players before the debuff expires and triggers Shatter.
  • On Heroic, when Frigid Nova is cast, the group should separate into smaller groups to help mitigate the damage.
    • If the group is already divided up to deal with Chilled as exlplained above, then nothing else needs to be done.

Stage Three - shattered world

  • Felburst applies a stacking damage over time effect to the tank.
  • Tanks are once again targeted by Gravitational Pull.
    • This now causes a Fel Impact, which should be avoided.
    • The impact clears out any Felflame pools it hits.
  • When affected by Fel Ejection, move away from other players and out of the Felflame pools left behind as the debuff counts down.
  • On Heroic, when Fel Nova is cast, move as far away from the boss as possible to help reduce damage taken.

Stage Four - inevitable fate

  • Voidburst places a damage over time effect on the tank.
    • When it expires, it jumps to two other targets, each with half the stacks it had before it jumped.
  • Tanks are still targeted by Gravitational Pull.
    • This causes a Void Impact which should be avoided, and summons a Thing that Should Not Be add.
    • The add should be tanked away from the boss to avoid Void Shift.
    • Turn away from the add when it begins casting Witness the Void to avoid being feared.
  • Players targeted by Void Ejection release a Void Eruption when it expires and spawn Voidling adds.
    • Being hit by Voidlings inflicts a stack of Voidburst.
  • On Heroic, Void Nova deals heavy damage to the group and applies a stack of Voidburst to all players.

Mythic Differences

  • The group will periodically be affected by Grand Conjunction.
    • Each player will gain a Star Sign. Stand on a player with the same Star Sign in order to clear it.
    • Touching a player with a different Star Sign, or failing to clear a Star Sign, will trigger Grand Trine.

Stage Three - shattered world

Stage Four - inevitable fate

Healing Strategy

Healing this fight should be straightforward as long as mechanics are handled properly.

Stage One - observation dome

  • Coronal Ejection deals moderate damage to affected players and applies a damage over time effect.

Stage Two - absolute zero

Stage Three - shattered world

  • The tanks will be taking stacking damage from Felburst and bursts of damage from Fel Impact.
  • Fel Ejection deals moderate to heavy damage to affected players, depending how many stacks they gain from touching Felflame pools.
  • On Heroic, Fel Nova deals moderate to heavy damage to the group, depending on how far away each player is from the boss.

Stage Four - inevitable fate

  • Voidburst will steadily cause more group-wide damage as it jump to unaffected players.
  • Tanks take bursts of damage from Void Impact.
  • Void Ejection deals moderate damage to affected players and releases Voidling adds.
  • On Heroic, Void Nova deals heavy damage to the group and applies one stack of Voidburst to all players.
  • On Mythic, everyone soaking Devouring Remnant will take moderate to heavy damage.

 Debuffs to Track

  • Several effects should be tracked as they cause affected players to need additional healing over time.
  • (Optional) Voidburst can be tracked so you know who has the highest stacks, but in most cases everyone should be about even.

 DBM Settings

Below are the DBM settings I'll be using for Star Augur Etraeus. You can set them up however you'd like, but these ones should work well as a starting point. Some settings may be Mythic only.
