This page covers healer-focused strategies for The Mechanar dungeon in The Burning Crusade. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences as well as Dungeon Journal and combat log information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
Bosses
Below are guides for the bosses in The Mechanar, including their abilities, healer notes, and addon settings.
Gatewatcher Gyro-Kill
- Don't stand in front to avoid
Stream of Machine Fluid (dispel, poison).
- Targets random swaths of players with
Saw Blade, dealing moderate damage and then light damage over time.
- Gains increased attack speed while
Shadow Power is active.
Healing Notes
- Be prepared for the extra healing required on the tank while
Shadow Power is active.
Debuffs to Track
- Major:
Stream of Machine Fluid (dispel, poison)
- Minor:
Saw Blade
Addons
Mechano-Lord Capacitus
- The tank will be dealing with
Head Crack, reducing stamina.
- While
Reflective Damage is active, deals damage when hit with melee attacks.
- While
Reflective Magic Shield is active, reflects spells back at the caster.
- Avoid the location of Nexus Bombs as they move around the area, eventually detonating.
- On Heroic,
Polarity Shift assigns either
Negative Charge or
Positive Charge to all players.
- Players standing near other players with a matching polarity deal increased damage.
- Players standing near other players with a non-matching polarity deal moderate damage over time to each other.
Healing Notes
- As long as non-tank players are avoiding bombs and not attacking into the reflection shields, most of the healing should remain on the tank throughout the encounter.
Debuffs to Track
- Major:
Head Crack
Addons
Gatewatcher Iron-Hand
- The tank will be dealing with the stun from
Hammer Punch.
- Don't stand in front to avoid
Stream of Machine Fluid (dispel, poison).
- Stay 15-yards away to avoid
Jackhammer.
- Gains increased attack speed while
Shadow Power is active.
Healing Notes
- Be prepared for the extra healing required on the tank while
Shadow Power is active or while they're stunned by
Hammer Punch.
Debuffs to Track
- Major:
Stream of Machine Fluid (dispel, poison)
Addons
Nethermancer Sepethrea
- The tank will be dealing with the knock back and threat reduction effect from
Arcane Blast.
- The tank will also be dealing with the extra damage from
Frost Attack.
- Don't stand in front to avoid
Dragon's Breath (dispel, magic).
- Accompanied by two (three on Heroic) Raging Flames.
- Raging Flame
- Ignore threat and pursue random players.
- Avoid the fire patches these leave behind when moving.
- Stay at least 5-yards away during
Inferno.
- Raging Flame
Healing Notes
- Between
Arcane Blast and
Dragon's Breath the tank may lose threat frequently. Be prepared to heal the next player the boss attacks while the tank recovers.
Debuffs to Track
- Major:
Dragon's Breath (dispel, magic)
Addons
- There are currently no notable addons for Nethermancer Sepethrea.
Pathaleon the Calculator
- Stay at least 30-yards away to avoid the silence and mana drain effect from
Arcane Torrent (dispel, magic) and the damage from
Arcane Explosion.
- Targets random players with
Domination, charming them for 10-seconds.
- Gains increased attack speed and physical damage dealt while
Disgruntled Anger is active.
- Periodically summons three Nether Wraiths.
- Nether Wraith

Arcane Bolt to prevent the light damage dealt.
- Interrupt

Healing Notes
- Keep players near full health in case you're targeted by
Domination.
- The tank will need heavy healing while
Disgruntled Anger is active.

Below are notes for the trash mobs in The Mechanar. The Mechanar is a relatively linear dungeon. The trash below is ordered as if you're completing the bosses in the order they're listed above.
Entrance thru Gatewatcher Gyro-Kill
- Sunseeker Netherbinder
- Interrupt
Starfire to prevent the light damage dealt.
- Stay at least 10-yards away to avoid
Arcane Nova.
- This also heals enemies within 10-yards.
- Removes magic debuffs from enemies with
Dispel Magic.
- Interrupt
- Bloodwarder Physician
- Interrupt or dispel
Anesthetic (magic) to remove the sleep effect.
- Interrupt
Bandage to prevent the healing.
- Interrupt or dispel
- Bloodwarder Centurion
- Stay at least 5-yards away to avoid the interrupt from
Shield Bash.
- Dispel
Chilling Touch (magic) to remove the reduced attack speed and movement speed effect.
- Stay at least 5-yards away to avoid the interrupt from
- Arcane Servant
- Stay at least 10-yards away to avoid
Arcane Explosion.
- Interrupt
Arcane Volley to prevent the light damage dealt to all players.
- Stay at least 10-yards away to avoid
- Tempest-Forge Patroller
- The tank will be dealing with the stun from
Knockdown.
- The tank will be dealing with the stun from

Solar Strike, reducing healing received.
- Stay at least 5-yards away to avoid
Whirlwind.
- Dispel
Chilling Touch (magic) to remove the reduced attack speed and movement speed effect.
- Targets random players with
Melt Armor, reducing armor.

- This area includes Bloodwarder Slayers, Bloodwarder Physicians, Tempest-Forge Patrollers, Sunseeker Netherbinders, Bloodwarder Centurion, Arcane Servants, detailed above.
- Mechanar Tinkerer
- Stay 10-yards away when
Nether Explosion is cast to avoid the moderate damage.
- Stay at least 6-yards away from other players to avoid chaining the damage from
Netherbomb.
- Stay 10-yards away when
- Sunseeker Astromage
- Interrupt
Scorch to prevent the light damage dealt.
- Dispel
Solarburn (magic) to prevent the light damage over time.
- Purge
Fire Shield to prevent the light damage dealt to players within 5-yards.
- Interrupt

- The tank will be dealing with
Drill Armor, reducing armor.
- Dispel
Glob of Machine Fluid (poison) to remove the decreased movement speed effect.

Super Shrink Ray, reducing attack power.
- Increases the attack power of random enemies with
Growth Ray.

Gatewatcher Iron-Hand thru Nethermancer Sepethrea
- This area includes Bloodwarder Centurions, and Bloodwarder Astromages, detailed above.
- Tempest-Forge Destroyer
- The tank will be dealing with the stun from
Knockdown.
- Stay at least 7-yards away from the tank to avoid
Charged Fist.
- The tank will be dealing with the stun from
Nethermancer Sepethrea thru Pathaleon the Calculator
- This area includes Bloodwarder Centurions, Bloodwarder Astromages, Tempest-Forge Destroyers, Bloodwarder Physicians, Bloodwarder Engineers, Bloodwarder Netherbinders, and Arcane Servants detailed above.
- Upon entering the final hallway, a gauntlet consisting of three waves of enemies begins.
- Upon nearing the end of the final hallway, another gauntlet of three waves of enemies begins.
