Shadow Labyrinth, Healer Guide

This page covers healer-focused strategies for the Shadow Labyrinth dungeon in The Burning Crusade. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences as well as Dungeon Journal and combat log information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.



 Bosses

Below are guides for the bosses in Shadow Labyrinth, including their abilities, healer notes, and addon settings.

Ambassador Hellmaw Dungeon Journal Model Ambassador Hellmaw

  • Don't stand in front to avoid Corrosive Acid.
  • Fears all players with Fear (dispel, magic).
    • This may cause a temporary threat drop while the tank is affected.

 Healing Notes

  • Keep all players near full health to make sure everyone can survive the Fear, especially if you have no way to break the fear effect early.
 Debuffs to Track
 Addons
  • Useful addons will be added as soon as possible.


Blackheart the Inciter Dungeon Journal Model Blackheart the Inciter

  • Stay at least 20-yards away to avoid War Stomp.
  • Targets random players with Charge, dealing light damage and stunning.
  • Mind controls all players with Incite Chaos, forcing everyone to attack each other.

 Healing Notes

  • Keep all players near full health to ensure everyone survives Incite Chaos.
 Debuffs to Track
  • There are no particular debuffs to track.
 Addons
  • Useful addons will be added as soon as possible.

Grandmaster Vorpil Dungeon Journal Model Grandmaster Vorpil

  • After being pulled in by Draw Shadows, move out of the Rain of Fire.
  • Deals light damage to all players with Shadow Bolt Volley.
  • Targets random players with Banish, incapacitating them and making them immune to all damage, healing, and effects.
  • Void Travelers steadily join the fight from nearby rifts.
    • Void Traveler
      • Move towards Vorpil.
      • If allowed to reach Vorpil, deals moderate damage to all players and heals Vorpil with Shadow Nova.
        • Additionally, applies a stack of Empowering Shadows to Vorpil, increasing shadow damage dealt.

 Healing Notes

  • Keep players near full health in case you're targeted by Banish.
  • If Void Travelers are killed quickly, healing should remain fairly light throughout the encounter.

  • Useful addons will be added as soon as possible.

Murmur Dungeon Journal Model Murmur

  • If no players are in melee range, Resonance deals heavy increasing damage over time to all players.
  • When affected by Murmur's Touch, move at least 20-yards away from other players.
  • Move at least 35-yards away when Sonic Boom is cast.
  • Pulls all players to the player targeted by Magnetic Pull.
  • Targets players with Thundering Storm when they're more than 25-yards away, dealing moderate damage.

 Trash Mobs

Below are notes for the trash mobs in Shadow Labyrinth. Shadow Labyrinth is a relatively linear dungeon. The trash below is ordered as if you're completing the bosses in the order they're listed above.

Entrance thru Ambassador Hellmaw

  • Cabal Acolyte
    • Interrupt Heal to prevent the healing.
    • Purge Renew to prevent the healing over time.
    • Purge Shadow Defense to remove the shadow damage absorption effect.
  • Cabal Deathsworn
    • The tank will be dealing with the stun from Knockdown, possibly leading to threat generation issues.
    • Don't stand in front to avoid Black Cleave.
  • Cabal Warlock
    • Interrupt Shadow Bolt to prevent the light damage dealt.
    • Purge Demon Armor to remove the increased armor, resistance, and health regeneration effect.
  • Cabal Familiar
    • Interrupt Firebolt to prevent the light damage dealt.
  • Fel Guardhound
    • Dispel Spell Lock (magic) to remove the silence effect.
  • Cabal Ritualist
    • The tank will be dealing with Gouge, possibly leading to threat generation issues or temporary threat drops.
    • Interrupt the following spells to prevent the light damage dealt:
    • Stay at least 10-yards away to avoid Frost Nova (dispel, magic).
    • Dispel Flame Buffet (magic) to remove the increased fire damage taken effect.
    • Remove magic debuffs from enemies with Dispel Magic.
  • Fel Overseer
    • The tank will be dealing with Mortal Strike, reducing healing received.
    • The tank will also be dealing with the knock back from Uppercut.
    • Stay at least 8-yards away to avoid Frightening Shout.
    • Targets random players with Intercept, dealing light damage and stunning.

Ambassador Hellmaw thru Blackheart the Inciter

  • This area includes Cabal Acolytes, Cabal Deathsworn, and Cabal Warlocks, detailed above.
  • Cabal Assassin
    • Are Stealthed to begin with and will use Cheap Shot to stun the first player they attack.
    • Dispel Wound Poison (poison) to remove the reduced healing received effect.
    • Dispel Crippling Poison (poison) to remove the reduced movement speed effect.
  • Malicious Instructor
    • The tank will be dealing with Disarm, possibly leading to threat generation issues.
    • The tank will also be dealing with stacks of Mark of Malice, when the stacks reach zero the tank takes moderate damage.
    • Stay at least 10-yards away to avoid Shadow Nova.
  • Cabal Cultist
    • The tank will be taking extra damage from Thrash.
    • Stay at least 5-yards away to avoid the interrupt from Kick.
  • Cabal Shadow Priest
  • Maiden of Discipline
    • Dispel Seduction (magic) to remove the incapacitating effect.

Blackheart the Inciter thru Grandmaster Vorpil

  • This area includes Malicious Instructors, Cabal Acolytes, Cabal Cultists, and Cabal Deathsworn, detailed above.
  • Cabal Zealot
    • Interrupt Shadow Bolt to prevent the light damage dealt.
    • Purge Shape of the Beast to remove the massive increased attack power and attack speed effect.
    • Soothe Frenzy to remove the increased attack speed effect.

Grandmaster Vorpil thru Murmur

  • Cabal Executioner
    • The tank may take extra damage from Execute.
    • Soothe Enrage to remove the increased attack speed and physical damage dealt effect.
  • Cabal Spellbinder
    • Interrupt or purge Brain Wash to prevent the mind control effect.
    • Will interrupt random player's spell casts with Spell Shock.
  • Cabal Summoner
