De Other Side, Healer Guide

Updated 4 months, 2 weeks ago for patch 9.0.5 by Preston. View the change log.

This page covers healer-focused strategies for De Other Side dungeon in Shadowlands. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences as well as Dungeon Journal and combat log information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

Below are guides for the bosses in De Other Side, including their abilities, healer notes, and addon settings.

Hakkar the Soulflayer Dungeon Journal Model Hakkar the Soulflayer

  • The tank will be dealing with Piercing Barb.
  • Blood Barrier deals moderate damage to all players and Sons of Hakkar, granting Hakkar a damage absorption shield equal to the damage dealt and making him immune to interrupts while the shield is active.
    • Avoid the impact locations of Blood Barrage
    • Interrupt the channeled cast as soon as the damage shield is depleted.
  • Stay at least 7-yards away from other players to prevent the spread of Corrupted Blood.
  • Son of Hakkar will periodically join the encounter.
    • Son of Hakkar
      • Fixate on random players with Zealous.
      • Deal steadily increasing damage to all players with Blood Nova.
      • Upon death, avoid the Spilled Essence pool.
        • The pool gradually shrinks while healing the Son of Hakkar that spawned it. The Son of Hakkar will become active again at full health.
          • On Mythic, the pool no longer shrinks.

 Healing Notes

  • Use cooldowns as-needed if Corrupted Blood or Sons of Hakkar gets out of hand.

Millhouse Manastorm Dungeon Journal Model The Manastorms

During this encounter, players will alternate between fighting a Manastorm in the arena while the other assaults from afar.

Stage One - Millhouse's Magics

During this stage, Millhouse is in the arena with Millificent on the sidelines.

  • Millhouse Manastorm
    • Interrupt Frostbolt to prevent the damage dealt, especially while Chilled Heart is active.
    • Intercept the Power Overwhelming beams coming from the Power Crystals to Millhouse.
      • The player(s) intercepting the beams take steadily increasing damage over time while gaining a stacking damage dealt increase.
      • Each second the beam hits Millhouse, Overwhelming Power! deals light damage to all players and grants him a stacking damage dealt buff.
    • On Mythic, Diabolical Dooooooom! deals critical damage to all players over 15-seconds.
  • Millificent Manastorm

Stage Two - Millificent's Gadgets

During this stage, Millificent is in the arena with Millhouse on the sidelines.

Mueh'zala Dungeon Journal Model Mueh'zala

During this encounter, players alternate between the two stages as they work to free Bwonsamdi.

Stage One - The Master of Death

This stage begins the encounter and ends when Shatter Reality is cast and players travel through Deathgate. This stage begins again after 25-seconds in stage two.

  • The tank will be dealing with Soulcrusher, which deals heavy damage over time from Crushed Soul.
  • Dispel Cosmic Artifice (magic) and avoid the Cosmic Collapse left behind.
    • If this expires instead of being dispelled, Unbound Cosmos deals light damage to all players.
    • On Mythic, this is applied to four players at once.
  • Avoid the sequence of areas hit by Master of Death.
    • There are three areas that will be hit: Left, Right, and Melee (as you're facing the boss).
    • Each area will only be hit once per sequence.
    • The area to be hit is dictated by which hand Mueh'zala is casting with, if both hands are casting, the Melee area will be hit.
  • If no players are within melee range, Crush deals heavy damage to all players.
    • Additionally, any players not on the same platform as Mueh'zala take heavy damage over time from Stellar Cloud.
  • When Shatter Reality is cast, run into one of the Deathgates spawned on either side of Mueh'zala or near the stairways.
    • As a healer, you should generally take the same portal as the tank.

Stage Two - Shattered Reality

This stage begins when players travel through the Deathgates and ends after 25-seconds. It begins again each time players travel through the Deathgates.

  • Players have 25-seconds to interact with Mueh'zala's Primeval Grasp totems before Coalescing pulls them back to reality.
    • Each totem is guarded by a Shattered Visage.
    • Once the Shattered Visage is killed, interacting with the nearby totem triggers Mojo Infusion.

 Healing Notes

  • The tank may need external defensive cooldowns to survive Crushed Soul.
  • Players seem to be split into two groups depending on if they take a Deathgate on the left or right side of the boss.

  • Useful addons will be added as they're available.

 Mythic+ Notes

Below are notes that pertain to high mythic+ levels and certain affixes. What constitutes a high mythic+ level will depend on your gear and group, so if you out-gear a particular mythic+ level these notes may not apply. The notes are grouped by affix but are in no particular order.

    • Mueh'zala
      • The tank will need heavy healing and external defensive cooldowns when dealing with Crushed Soul.
  • Fortified

      • Breaking line of sight during Haywire will be explicitly required.

  • Sanguine
    • Enraged Spirit
      • Will not move while channeling Rage.
    • Atal'ai Hoodoo Hexxer

      • Will not move while channeling Haywire.
  • Bolstering
    • No exceptional interactions noted yet!
  • Grievous
