
Vault of the Wardens, Healer Guide

This page covers healer-focused strategies for the Vault of the Wardens dungeon in Legion. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.
This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences as well as Dungeon Journal and combat log information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.
Bosses
Below are guides for the bosses in Vault of the Wardens, including their abilities, healer notes, and addon settings.
Tirathon Saltheril
- The tank will be dealing with
Darkstrike, requiring an active mitigation cooldown to prevent the
Dark Energies damage absorption shield.
Swoops towards a random player, dealing light damage to all players in the path.
- Upon landing, interrupt
Furious Blast to prevent the heavy damage dealt to all players and the
Furious Flames patches.
- Upon landing, interrupt
- Avoid the impact locations of
Fel Mortar and the resulting
Furious Flames patches.
- At 50%, enters Havoc or Vengeance form. This changes each week.
- Havoc
- Deals increased damage due to
Metamorphosis.
- During
Hatred, avoid the beam that sweeps around the room.
- Deals light damage over time to all players with
Immolation.

- Avoid the
Glaives as they move around the room, as well as the
Fel Chains that connect them.
Fel Mortar happens much more frequently.

Inquisitor Tormentorum
- When affected by
Sap Soul, the next ability used will be put on a 15-seconds cooldown.
- Summons Tormenting Orbs throughout the encounter.
- Tormenting Orb
- When
Inquisitive Stare is cast, face the orb to avoid the disorient effect.
- When

- Periodically
Teleports to different cellblocks, becoming immune to damage with
Void Shield while opening the cells.
- Prison Cells will contain the following sets of enemies.

- Felguard Annihilator
- Shadowmoon Technician
- Interrupt or stay more than 5-yards away from other players to avoid chaining the damage from
Throw Dynamite.
- Dispel
Silence (magic) to remove the silence effect.
- Avoid the locations of Proximity Bombs from
Throw Proximity Bomb.
- Interrupt or stay more than 5-yards away from other players to avoid chaining the damage from
- Shadowmoon Warlock
- Interrupt
Fel Power to prevent the increased damage dealt effect on nearby Felguard Annihilators.
- When possible, interrupt
Shadow Bolt to prevent the moderate damage dealt to random players.

Curse of Tongues (curse) to remove the increased cast time effect.

- Avoid the impact location of
Shadow Crash.
- Increases melee attack power of nearby enemies with
Battle Shout.

Frightening Shout to prevent the fear effect on all players.
- When possible, interrupt
Mind Flay to prevent the light damage over time effect on random players.
- Increases melee attack power of nearby enemies with
Battle Shout.

- Upon death, when affected by
Corrupted Touch (dispel, magic), move more than 10-yards away from other players before the effect expires or is dispelled to avoid chaining the damage.

- Dispel
Flesh to Stone (magic) before it reaches 10-stacks.
- Interrupt or avoid the impact location of
Stone Block.

Monstrous Bite.
- Gradually applies stacks of
Petrification to all players. At 100 stacks, players are turned to stone.

Ash'Golm
- Lava pools are present throughout the encounter from many abilities.
- Countermeasure pedestals are present on the edges of the platform. Clicking one freezes all enemies and applies
Brittle, increasing damage taken.
- During
Fissure, avoid the lava pool line between the boss and the tank.
- Avoid the impact location of
Pyroclast and the resulting volcano. Each volcano periodically spawns an Ember.
- Ember
- As noted above, if it touches a lava pool, it begins casting
Detonate, dealing moderate damage to all players if the cast finishes.
- Deals light damage to random players with
Sear.
- If still alive after 2-minutes, deals heavy damage to all players with
Smoldering.
- As noted above, if it touches a lava pool, it begins casting
- Ember
- Avoid the lava pool ring from
Lava Wreath.
- Deals light damage over time to all players with
Smoldering while not frozen by
Brittle.
Healing Notes
- Use cooldowns as-needed, especially if Embers or
Lava debuffs get out of control.

Glazer
- Avoid the
Pulse orbs that move across the room and bounce off the walls.
Pulse orbs will also damage Glazer.
- Avoid the impact locations of
Lingering Gaze and the lightning patches left behind.
- During
Focusing, players take increasing damage over time from
Radiation.
- Glazer is virtually immune to damage.
- Avoid the
Beam emanating from Glazer towards a Lens, and eventually between Lenses.
- Players must click to rotate the Lenses to eventually direct the
Beam back into Glazer.
- Overloaded Lenses must be "killed" to restore their functionality.
Overload deals light damage to all players.
- Once the
Beam hits Glazer, it is stunned and takes increased damage due to
Beamed
Healing Notes
- Use cooldowns as-needed while
Focusing is active.
Debuffs to Track
- There are no particular debuffs to track.
Addons
- Useful addons will be added as they're available.
Cordana Felsong
- Before the encounter, a player should pick up the
Elune's Light orb by clicking on it, this is used to counter several mechanics noted below.
- Holding the orb also grants an Extra Action Button that allows throwing the orb to a target location.
- The tank will be dealing with
Knockdown Kick and
Turn Kick, stunning and knocking them back.
- Avoid the locations of
Deepening Shadows pools.
- The player holding
Elune's Light can stand near these pools to shrink them, or the orb can be thrown near the pools to shrink them.
- The player holding
- Avoid the path of the
Detonating Moonglaive as it flies out from and back to Cordana.
- During
Shadowstep:
- An Avatar of Shadow is spawned, disabling
Elune's Light and its effects until the Avatar is killed.
- Cordana must be revealed again using the
Elune's Light orb. Either by the player holding it standing near her location or by it being thrown near her location.
- Avoid the
Fel Glaives emanating from Cordana's position.
- An Avatar of Shadow is spawned, disabling
- During
Creeping Doom, walls of fel spirits slowly move across the platform.
- Each wall has an opening players can pass through. This can be revealed by the player holding
Elune's Light walking near the fel spirits.
- Players who hit a fel spirit take moderate damage and are knocked back. Fel spirits are impossible to walk through, so finding the opening is necessary.
- Each wall has an opening players can pass through. This can be revealed by the player holding
- Periodically summons an Avatar of Vengeance near one of the owl statues at the corners of the platform.
- Avatar of Vengeance
- Must be revealed by the player with
Elune's Light.
- Deals moderate damage to random players with

Healing Notes
- Damage is generally avoidable during this encounter. Use cooldowns as-needed during
Shadowstep and Avatar of Vengeance.

Trash Mobs
Below are notes for the trash mobs in Vault of the Wardens. Vault of the Wardens has a relatively linear layout. The trash below is ordered as if you're completing the bosses in the order they're listed above.
Entrance thru Tirathon Saltheril
- Felsworn Infester
- Interrupt or dispel
Nightmares (magic) to prevent the stun effect.
- When possible, interrupt
Corrupt to prevent the light damage dealt to random players.
- Interrupt or dispel

- The tank will be dealing with
Vital Strike.

Fel Traps, triggering a trap deals moderate damage to the player and knocks them into the air with
Fel Detonation.
Swoops towards a random player, dealing light damage to all players in the path.
- Deals light damage over time to all players with
Immolation.

- Don't stand in front when it turns to cast
Fiery Breath.
- Avoid the impact locations of
Burning Pitch.

Detonate.

- Dreadlord Mendacius
- Stay within 8-yards of the player targeted by
Meteor to split the damage dealt.
- Deals light damage to all players and reduces movement speed with
Thunderclap.
- Summons Grimguards.
- Grimguard
- The tank will be dealing with
Mortal Strike, reducing healing received.
- Avoid the impact location and the path of
Charge.
- Soothe
Enrage to remove the increased physical damage dealt and attack speed effect.
- The tank will be dealing with

- Teleports random players into melee range with
Summon Player.
- Stay within 8-yards of the player targeted by
Ash'Golm thru Glazer
- This area includes Fel Scorchers, and Malignant Defilers, detailed above.
- Blade Dancer Illianna
- The tank will be dealing with
Pierce.
- Dispel
Gift of the Doomsayer (magic) to prevent healing on the affected player also healing Illianna.
- Don't be casting when
Deafening Shout is cast to avoid the interrupt and silence effect.
- Heals nearby Fel Scorchers with
Enkindle.
- The tank will be dealing with
Glazer thru Cordana Felsong
- Grimhorn the Enslaver
- Stand within 5-yards of the player targeted by
Torment to split the damage dealt.
- Avoid the impact locations of
Anguished Souls and the pools left behind.
- Stand within 5-yards of the player targeted by
- At the bottom of the elevator, a player should pick up the
Elune's Light orb, this is needed to reveal enemies in the next section and allow them to be attacked.
- Avoid the patches of
Barbed Web throughout this area, or have the player with
Elune's Light remove them by walking near them.
- Barbed Spiderling

Barbed Spit to prevent the light damage dealt to random players.
- At low health, attempts to run away from
Elune's Light.
