Black Rook Hold, Healer Guide

Posted 1 week, 6 days ago for patch 7.3.5 by Preston.

This page covers healer-focused strategies for the Black Rook Hold dungeon in Legion. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences as well as Dungeon Journal and combat log information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

 Bosses

Below are guides for the bosses in Black Rook Hold, including their abilities, healer notes, and addon settings.

Amalgam of Souls Dungeon Journal Model Amalgam of Souls

  • Don't stand in front to avoid Reap Soul. Players hit take increased damage.
  • When affected by Soul Echoes, move more than 5-yards away from other players while avoiding subsequent echoes.
  • When targeted by Swirling Scythe, stay more than 5-yards away from the resulting scythe.
  • At 50% health, Call Souls spawns several Restless Souls at the edge of the room.
    • Restless Soul
      • Slowly move towards Amalgam, granting a stack of Soulgorge if it reaches it.
      • Susceptible to crowd control, snares, and knock backs.
    • After all Restless Souls are killed, Soul Burst deals heavy damage to all players. Increased by each stack of Soulgorge.

 Mythic+ Notes

Below are notes that pertain to high mythic+ levels and certain affixes. What constitutes a high mythic+ level will depend on your gear and group, so if you out-gear a particular mythic+ level these notes may not apply. The notes are grouped by affix but are in no particular order.

  • Tyrannical
    • Amalgam of Souls
  • Fortified
    • Risen Scout
    • Felspite Dominator
      • The player affected by Sic Bats! will likely need external defensive cooldowns.
  • Sanguine
    • The following enemies can be difficult to move due to their preference for casting spells. Be ready with knock backs and interrupts.
      • Risen Archer
  • Bolstering
    • Wyrmtongue Scavanger/Wyrmtongue Trickster
      • Be careful to kill any elite enemies these are grouped with first, as there are usually many Wyrmtongues in a group.
  • Raging
    • Risen Scout
