Temple of Atal'Hakkar, Healer Guide

Updated 2 months, 3 weeks ago for patch 1.13 by Preston. View the change log.

This page covers healer-focused strategies for the Temple of Atal'Hakkar dungeon. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences as well as Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

This dungeon is commonly referred to as Sunken Temple.

Best for players level 55-60.

Avatar of Hakkar Dungeon Journal Model Avatar of Hakkar

To summon the Avatar of Hakkar a player needs the Egg of Hakkar, obtained from the quest line starting with Screecher Spirits.

This is a two stage encounter, during which you'll fight against the Avatar's guardians, and then the Avatar itself.

Stage One - Hakkari Blood

This stage begins the encounter and ends when all Eternal Flames are extinguished.

  • Kill Hakkari Bloodkeepers and use the Hakkari Blood looted from them to extinguish the four Eternal Flames at the corners of the room.

Stage Two - The Avatar

This stage begins after all Eternal Flames are extinguished and ends when the Avatar of Hakkar is killed.

  • The tank will be dealing with Lash, possibly leading to threat generation issues.
  • Purge Cause Insanity from the affected player to remove the mind-control effect.
    • If no Purge is available, crowd-control the affected player for the 6-second duration of the effect.
  • Dispel Curse of Tongues (curse) from casters to remove the reduced cast speed effect.
  • Dispel Shadow Word: Pain (magic) to prevent the damage over time.

 Healing Notes
