Dire Maul West, Healer Guide

Updated 1 month ago for patch 1.13 by Preston. View the change log.

This page covers healer-focused strategies for the Dire Maul West dungeon. While it's tailored for healers, other roles may also find the information useful. If you have any suggestions or feedback, you can leave a comment below or tweet @PrestonDvorak.

This guide has been updated and maintained based on my own experiences as well as Dungeon Journal information. I'll continue to update it as-needed.

To enter the dungeon, at least on player needs the Crescent Key, dropped by Pusillin in Dire Maul East.

Best for players level 58-60.

 Bosses

Below are guides for the bosses in Dire Maul West, including their abilities, healer notes, and addon settings.

Tendris Warpwood Dungeon Journal Model Tendris Warpwood

  • Any Ironbark Protectors left alive in the surrounding area will be called to fight.
  • The tank will be dealing with Uppercut.
  • Dispel Entangling Roots (magic) to prevent the light damage over time.
  • Stay at least 10-yards away to avoid Grasping Vines.

 Healing Notes

  • Be aware of any Ironbark Protectors joining the encounter if they weren't killed ahead of time.
 Debuffs to Track

Magister Kalendris Dungeon Journal Model Magister Kalendris

  • Takes reduced melee damage due to Shadowform.
  • Interrupt Mind Blast to prevent the damage dealt to the tank.
  • Dispel Shadow Word: Pain (magic) to prevent the light damage over time.

 Debuffs to Track

Tsu'zee Dungeon Journal Model Tsu'zee

This is a rare enemy and may not always be present.

  • Targets random players with Blink.
  • Stay at least 5-yards away to avoid being targeted by Gouge.

 Healing Notes

During this encounter players will be fighting against Illyanna Ravenoak and her pet, Ferra.

 Healing Notes

  • Be prepared for the random damage happening to non-tank players.
 Debuffs to Track

Immol'thar Dungeon Journal Model Immol'thar

To unlock Immol'thar's prison, players must have deactivated the five large, blue Shield Generator pylons throughout the rest of the dungeon. One pylon is before Tendris Warpwood, the next two are on the way to Illyanna Ravenoak, and the final two are in the outer edge of Immol'thar's room.

  • Summons Eyes of Immol'thar throughout the encounter.
    • Eye of Immol'thar
      • Focus their gaze on random players, reducing movement speed, attack speed, and casting speed.
  • Gains increased attack speed during Frenzy.
  • Stay at least 10-yards away to avoid Trample.
  • Dispel Infected Bite (disease) to prevent the light damage over time and remove the increased physical damage taken effect.
  • Targets random players with Portal of Immol'thar, teleporting them.

 Healing Notes

  • Be aware of the Eyes of Immol'thar, if they get out of control the fight will become increasingly difficult.
 Debuffs to Track

Prince Tortheldrin Dungeon Journal Model Prince Tortheldrin

After Immol'thar is killed, Tortheldrin becomes hostile.

  • The tank will be dealing with Arcane Blast.
  • Deals extra damage to the tank with Thrash.
  • Hits the tank and the closest non-tank player with Cleave.
  • Interrupts random casts with Counterspell.
  • Stay at least 8-yards away to avoid Whirlwind.

 Healing Notes

  • The tank will be taking significant damage throughout the encounter.
  • Be prepared to heal the non-tank player hit by Cleave, likely a melee DPS.

  • There are no particular debuffs to track.
