In order to have more transparency about what's going on behind the scenes, I'm going to be doing monthly overviews of what I'm currently working on. This can include content, back-end systems, and even things like marketing. These articles may be a little rough around the edges, but the goal is to get the point across without spending too much time editing the actual article (which means more time working on the stuff the article talks about).
During August of 2017, I'll be working on the following items, more or less in the order they appear.
The Site News section is where you're reading this article right now. The section will house news and information that pertains to the site or stream, or my own personal life as it relates to those things. Each game will continue to have it's own news section. As part of this, I've created a global News and Articles page that will let you see every single article posted across the site in chronological order.
The work on this section is pretty much done, but I'll continue to tweak it as I write more articles.
Next up will be the new Technology section. This section will exist alongside the current World of Warcraft and Overwatch sections and allow me to cover some of the non-video game topics I'm interested in. Immediately available when the section launches will be the first part of a comprehensive Streaming guide, which will cover Hardware to begin with and eventually expand into Software and Monetization. I also have a secret article that I've been working on and researching for months that will be posted once it's finished.
A guide for the new dungeon coming in 7.3, along with a PTR clear video, will be added. These will follow the same format as previous dungeon guides.
Boss guides for the new raid coming in 7.3 will also start showing up this month. The plan is to do about one boss per week leading up to the release of the patch. These will also follow the same format as previous raid guides. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I'll be continuing the "in-depth notes" section I started in Tomb of Sargeras. I haven't heard any feedback one way or the other, so feel free to send me any feedback.
The following items aren't specific to any game or section, but should be a benefit to some or all people visiting the site
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are a set of standards to determine whether or not a website is considered accessible, particularly with regards to people with disabilities. In many countries, websites are legally obligated to meet these requirements. In a continued effort to make sure I adhere to the laws around the world, I regularly make updates to the site to make sure it's within the confines of the guidelines.
The following items won't necessarily be available or noticeable by people using the site, but they're still large, notable features that should help out going forward.
For several months, I've been working on a spell database to speed up guide writing and to no longer be dependent on Wowhead for their spell tooltips. I believe the system will finally be complete this month. The last hurdle is getting spell information from the game into a database that the site can use, and then of course building the tooltips themselves.
That's all for now! Feel free to leave comments and ask questions.
