Monthly Expenses and Future Goals
As you may or may not know, I've been working towards making this site, Twitch, and YouTube my career for the last two years. While it hasn't gotten there yet, it has shown promise! I feel like the next big step is a little transparency and information organizing.

What does this include?
The current monthly expense goal shown above includes the following expenses. The amount has been rounded up to the nearest hundred dollars to account for small, unexpected expenses and fluctuations each month when I review my finances.
- Website hosting
- Software for web/video editing
- Debt from being previously unemployed
- Medical expenses
- Entertainment (Warcraft subscription)
How am I supporting myself until the goal is reached?
Until this endeavor is supporting my minimum monthly requirements, I complete web development contracts, take on handyman projects, and collect scrap metal to pay the bills. While I enjoy all of those things, gaming combines most of the elements I enjoy and offers me just as much opportunity to learn new things.
How will things change once I'm doing this full time?
This is a hard question to answer. At the end of the day, I'm going to do everything I want to do with this site whether it's paying my bills or not because I really enjoy doing it. The major thing that will change is the speed at which I complete everything. You can expect guides to come out faster, site features to be added more quickly, and of course longer streams! I was never a fan of gating things behind monetary goals, so I can't promise huge new types of content, but I can promise I'll continue to work hard and listen to feedback.
You can learn more about me on the About page.
The expenses above don't cover everything it would take for me to live on my own, and right now I'm fortunate enough to live with my mom who feeds me in exchange for helping out around the house and paying rent! With that in mind, my monthly expense goal will rise as I'm able to meet the following goals. These are in rough order of when I'd like to meet them, but are subject to change at my discretion or as my life changes.
I'm lucky enough to have my student loans in deferment from when I was unemployed, but I would like to start repaying them again as soon as possible. As my income grows, it's more and more likely I will no longer qualify for full deferment, which moves this goal to the top of the list.
Disqus Single Sign On Subscription
Obtaining this subscription would allow me to implement user accounts on the site in my ideal setup. Accounts would offer an additional way to support me through a small monthly fee that removes ads from the site, with the possibility of other perks down the road. People would be able to use Twitter and Disqus (plus more services later) to create site accounts and sign in. Other big plans would include the ability to sign in with Patreon or Twitch, granting people that support me through those methods ad-free viewing, too!
I wasn't sure what to call this, but it includes things like tissues, shaving cream, toothpaste, etc. I'm not currently living without brushing my teeth or shaving, but being able to reliable budget for these things would be great!
Like I said above, I'm fortunate enough to live with my mom who feeds me in exchange for help around the house. As great as that is, it would be nice to regularly purchase my own food or contribute to the food budget every month.
State Fair (Vacation)
I've been attending the Minnesota State Fair every year since I was born (my mom brought me along when I wasn't even half a year old!). Much like the budgeted items above, it would be nice to have some money reliably set aside every year rather than going with what I have at the time.
Car and Insurance
While I would love to purchase my relatively modest $33,000 dream car, I'm more than happy to settle for something used! I'll also need to cover insurance and savings for maintenance, repairs, and gas.
Apartment or House
I enjoy living with my mom, but having the option to get my own house or apartment would be nice. It's lower on the list because it's not critically needed at the moment.
If I'm lucky, everything I'm working on will contribute to my income for the rest of my life, but I would also like to save money for retirement in some form or another. Having enough to comfortably invest would be a bonus.
Expect more to be added here as I think of it, this is a bit of a new thing! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
